Zsa Zsa Gabor is in Critical, but a Bit Better Condition

Zsa Zsa Gabor submitted herself into a Los Angeles Hospital on Friday and received a blood transfusion immediately. The 93-year-old Hollywood actress is said to be in a critical condition, according to her husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt.
Gabor suffered several injuries after she had fallen out of bed trying to reach her wheelchair to answer the phone at her home in Bel-Air last weekend, July 17. She had then been brought to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center on Monday and gone under a 3.5-hour hip replacement surgery 48 hours later. At first glance, the surgery seemed to work real fine. But on Friday the story went to a different direction. As stated by her publicist John Blanchette, the Hungarian born veteran actress might have suffered a stroke as a complication result of the medical procedure.
Anhalt, Zsa Zsa’s 9th husband who has spent his life with her for the last twenty four years, believed that it might not be the case. “It’s just speculation. We have to wait a few more days to see what is going on,” he said. Zsa Zsa reportedly could not take the morphine provided, but her body reacted better towards another pain reliever.
Anhalt also reminded us that his wife was conscious although she seemed to be confused on what was going on. She could speak a few words on Saturday morning, but did not respond to questions. “For the last three days she has not been able to swallow food or liquids, but her doctors hoped she soon would be able to eat,” he added. The governor of California candidate plans to drop his campaign to focus his time and energy on caring for her.
Zsa Zsa’s daughter, Constance Francesca Hilton, told the press that she had been spending some time on Friday speaking with her mom. She believed that Zsa Zsa was, “Adjusting to the medications and healing process. There are no surprises.”
Zsa Zsa gained her fame on TV and movies during 1950s and 1960s, including from her role in Moulin Rouge (1952) and the Orson Welles’ classic A Touch of Evil (1958). She began to use a wheelchair in 2002 due to a car crash. Despite her stroke attack in 2005, according to her daughter, she has remained active until the falling incident. “She is not on any kind of death watch,” Constance said.
The hospital has yet made an official clarification regarding Zsa Zsa’s current condition.
