Too much of anything can never be good and sometimes, we need to face reality and hang up the gloves when situations are bleak and everything is going downhill to avoid catastrophic and inevitable crash after soaring and reaching great heights. And for those looking for more action and drama from an ailing series featured in NBC, you just have to look elsewhere because there will be no more teleportation after Hiro Nakamura and the whole gang got sacked and pulled out primetime. After ruling the airwaves for sometime especially after captivating millions of viewers, Heroes is finally being cancelled.
Although hardcore fans are still buzzing about the termination of their favorite series, the news did not come out as a shock or a surprise anyone. Speculations of the show being canned circulated after the reported and highly publicized strike of the series writers. And even though issues with the management have been ironed out, the show was never the same and it was not as strong as it was in its epic first season.
Even viewers can tell that the rift with the writers hampered strength of the storyline of the show and each character gets more bland and uninteresting with every passing episode. The number of viewers says it all and paints a rather clear picture of the show’s decline. The premier season gathered a staggering average of 13.86 million viewers per episode which dropped down to 11.46 million on the second season. It’s all downhill from there with the third season gathering a disappointing 7.61 million viewers and the top brass of NBC decided to pull the plug when they declared the show a dying horse and a losing case with disgruntled fans and viewers averaging at a measly 4.4 million worldwide per episode.
