Toyota Recalls Sienna

In another devastating turn of events that has hit them in the previous months, Toyota declared that they are recalling approximately 600,000 of their first and second generation line of Sienna minivans worldwide because of another factory defect that may lead to road accidents while driving in traffic. This is the latest of several recalls of their cars since the year rolled in and some of the defective cars include the hybrid Prius and complaints include erratic electronic systems that affect the steering wheel, acceleration and braking system of the vehicles. This additional recall will add to Toyota’s whopping list of almost 9 million units that were recalled over the last four months.

The Sienna drives really well and is so far living up to the billing as one of the best family vans in the market today. It has none of the faults of earlier recalls because the electronic system is rigged really efficiently with the engine. But manufacturers discovered that the cable that fastens the spare tire to the bottom of vehicle is prone to corrosion. This proves to be worsened by driving in winter conditions because of the salt scattered all over the roads. With prolonged exposure to these elements, this could be hazardous over time because the cable may snap and the dislodged tire might wreck havoc should this happen while driving in traffic.

Toyota Motor Corporation is now trying to reach out to their customers and are willing to set up free inspection centers across states and they are willing to install new and improved cables totally free of charge. This damage control is but necessary to keep disgruntled and disenchanted customers from totally boycotting their products.
